A hilltop Laguna Niguel mansion on 13-acre-plus acres in guard-gated Bear Brand Ranch has trimmed $9 million off its last asking price to $39.995 million.
The 15,188-square-foot mansion has six bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, with unobstructed views of Laguna Beach to La Jolla.
Mission San Juan Capistrano is visible from the primary bedroom, homeowner Gary Dinkin told the Southern California News Group in February 2022 when he and his wife, Lindy, first listed it for $50 million.
The price dropped in July of that same year to $48.9 million, and the home also has been available for rent for a maximum monthly rate of $500,000.
More than just a place for enjoying the view, the property is a showcase of modern art, architecture and manicured grounds that “embraces harmony amid a pageant for the eyes and an ever-changing backdrop for living and entertaining,” said Tim Smith of Coldwell Banker Realty, the listing agent.
The Dinkins built the contemporary-style estate in 2016.
A glass-and-steel gate opens to the 550-foot driveway with a circular motor court adorned by two large-scale abstract works by Laguna Beach sculptor Jon Seeman.
The porte-cochere, inspired by The Aria Hotel in Las Vegas, leads to an oversized 18-foot-wide iron and laminated glass pivot door designed by Lindy Dinkin. “She won an award for the glass design on that front door,” her husband previously told SCNG.
Inside, several enormous skylights light up the soaring grand entryway.
Modern Italian-style crystal chandeliers, exotic stone and stainless steel finishes and floor-to-ceiling Fleetwood doors and windows complement the rest of the luxury home, which also features a glass-enclosed elevator.
The indoor and outdoor gourmet kitchens feature generous islands, sleek cabinetry and top-of-the-line appliances.
Other highlights include a game room, a movie theater with tiered seating and a stage, an art gallery and a two-story library.
There’s a negative-edge pool shaped like a stingray with waterfalls, a central fire pit seating area accessed by a glass bridge and a 20-person spa. Additional outdoor amenities include a separate dog run, putting greens and a fruit and vegetable garden on the hillside.
Solar power, a full home generator, state-of-the-art security and an attached eight-car garage round out the home.
Smith shares the listing with The Altman Brothers of Douglas Elliman of California.
